The Best Place to Buy Pillow Covers Online

As if finding just the right pillows isn’t hard enough, trying to decorate while we’re stuck at home is the pits. Luckily there are plenty of home décor pieces to be found online—and cheap 20×20 pillow covers are bountiful IF you know where to look! And the best place to find pillow covers: Amazon.

I don’t mind spending money on high-quality fabric and great construction, however, finding a steal of a deal is always my goal. There are some great decorative cushion covers that will keep your DIY room makeover under budget!

Best Pillows on Amazon

My formal living room is mostly complete, but I’m always on the lookout for special pieces. My staple pillows are usually a solid color and these velvet pillows are sexy base to make statement pillows shine. They are soft, made with high-quality fabric and CHEAP. Less than $20 for a set of 2. You can’t beat that anywhere. The solid pillows come in several colors and sizes. They make a fantastic base for your couch.

I like to mix them in with higher-end pillow covers and pillows that I might find in Home Goods or on Etsy.

Textured Neutral Pillow Covers on Amazon.

These textured pillow covers I bought on Amazon are the bomb.com. I purchased them in blue, but they come in tan, gray, orange, red and a few other colors. They’re a more casual style pillow—with a linen look base and cotton embroidery. The stitching is fantastic. The fabric feels rich and heavy. Definitely a great buy.

You can find tons of set of four pillow covers, but the ones I’ve seen look rather cheap. You want an inexpensive product, not a cheaply made product. Buyer beware. Most pillow covers on Amazon can be returned easily, but there are a few not available from Amazon Prime (you do have prime don’t you if not sign up here for a free 30 day trial!? and will be a pain to return.

Whatever you do you skip these…they looked good in the photo, but they were printed on canvas that felt like barbed wire. I tried them out for the Den Design I’m working on and just no.

You need a good neutral pillow in your life! Whether you’re on the hunt for a 20×20, 18×18 or lumbar pillow—you can easily score a set of two on Amazon for under $20!

Pillow Inserts for Cheap Pillow Cover

Now, you can find pretty pillow covers, but if you have the wrong insert, the whole look can go south. So what is the best filling for throw pillows?

High quality feather down or down alternative is the best filling for your pillow. I tend to stay away from polyester filled (polyfill) because stiff pillows don’t usually sit well on the couch and I’m a pillow chopper. However, I have a few polyfill pillows that came with my living room sofa chairs and the embroidery covers fit so well. I can’t chop them, but the tight fit makes them look stunning.

Feather down or down alternative are much more comfortable to actually sit back on because they conform to your shape. Polyfill pillows just add bulk making you want to move them. If your family is anything like mine, you’ll just end up with your pillows piled on the floor. A-NNOY-ING.

Buying the right size pillow insert for your pillow covers

The absolute worst thing you can do is have saggy pillows. The rule of thumb when buying inserts is to buy your covers two inches SMALLER than the pillows. So, if you buy 20×20 pillow pillows, buy 18×18 covers. The pillow will fill out the cover nicely and you won’t have any wrinkling, sagging, or wonky corners.

It may be a bit of a chore to get the pillow inside, but my trick is to fold the pillow in half and start stuffing it into the bottom of the cover.
